In most of time, people use 10 gauge high-tensile galvanized steel (some with colour painted) to produce highway guardrails! At begining, there are only 2-wave or w shaped beams with a two-rib corrugated design (with two secondary ribs). While in some other occassions, people must develop higer-tensile crash barriers with higher strength, and then we have 3 wave highway guardrails now.

Firstly, as roll forming technologies advance, w beam highway guardrail roll forming machine has been developed to produce guardrails from galvanized steel of 482mm width and 2-4mm thickness.  People install the guardrails as safety parts on the roadside or two sides of highway or expressway.

And then , different countries may have different standards for high guard rails, however only minor changes on shapes or profile dimensions indicates, therefore, all the 2 wave or w beam highway guardrail roll forming machines have very much the same functions, and working process.

Also, there are different transmission systems optional for a highway guardrail roll forming machine in the market. An economical guardrail machine usually applies chain-sprokets transmission system (see Pic 2)!  This kind of transmission system is only for the production of 2mm-thick crash barriers. On the other hand, Gear-boxes plus universal joint-shafts transmission system (see Pic 1) is installed on a standard roll former for thickness from 2-4mm.

Last but not the least, different roll forming structures are optional for different highway guardrail roll forming machine. For example, Integral forming stands (indicated as Pic2) deals with materials thickness from 2-3mm, while Separate forming stands (indicated as Pic1). deals with materials thickness from 2-4mm.
